New York, NY - Acclaimed singer/songwriter and social activist Jill Sobule is joining forces with an array of extraordinary artists and musicians to create MY SONG IS MY WEAPON, a unique global destination focusing diverse creative expression towards social change and political power.

An unprecedented platform for the art of social revolution, MY SONG IS MY WEAPON launches today via an exclusive PledgeMusic drive, with all funds raised dedicated to developing mysongismyweapon.com while also providing the overall campaign with marketing and promotional messaging support. A number of exclusive items are on offer, including Monster Protest Jamz, Vol. 1, a star-studded compilation collecting Sobule's online smash, "When They Say We Want Our America Back (What The F*ck Do They Mean)," alongside new and previously unavailable tracks from such like-minded luminaries as Amanda Palmer, Tom Morello, Wendy & Lisa, John Doe, Todd Rundgren, Margaret Cho, Wayne Kramer, and more to be announced.

MY SONG IS MY WEAPON was inspired by the massive public response to Sobule's "When They Say We Want Our America Back (What The F*ck Do They Mean)," a satirical new song penned in reaction to the anti-immigration sentiment most recently fostered throughout America's divisive 2016 primary season. The track proved a popular phenomenon earlier this year after receiving wide-ranging media attention and national exposure during Senator Bernie Sanders' historic presidential campaign - not to mention the anger and ire of right wing and conservative media outlets.

From Woody Guthrie's "This Land Is Your Land" to Kendrick Lamar's milestone To Pimp A Butterfly, protest music has long served as a remarkably powerful tool for engaging citizens and promoting social change. MY SONG IS MY WEAPON - which takes its name from Robbie Lieberman's award-winning 1995 history, My Song Is My Weapon: People's Songs, American Communism, and The Politics of Culture, 1930-50 - will offer creative people everywhere a place where they can gather, day or night, to articulate themselves and their political beliefs through myriad forms of artistic expression. Both a virtual soapbox and online community,mysongismyweapon.com will help people create songs, poetry, and visual art that speaks directly to issues of social change. What's more, mysongismyweapon.com will provide an open communal space enabling users to connect with like-minded citizen activists around the world, resulting in an international grassroots collective unlike any previous political or cultural movement.
