Internationally acclaimed singer songwriter Agnes Obel just released her sophomore album Aventine in the US on Play It Again Sam. A striking collection of lush arrangements held together by Agnes’ stunning voice, the album is now available oniTunes as well as CD & heavyweight vinyl LP formats.
 
London duo Cloud Boat (signed to R&S Records) recently covered Aventine album single“The Curse,” transforming it from Agnes’ original emotive, orchestral selection to a bewitching, echoing electronic cut. Hampson, formerly of seminal space-rock band Loop, adds his unique, surreal touch to the original oeuvre.
 
With a debut album compared by critics to the likes of PJ Harvey, Joanna Newsom, and Roy Orbison, Agnes’ sparse chamber folk has been lauded worldwide. Originally from Copenhagen, Agnes has lived in Berlin since 2006, where Aventine was recorded at her Chalk Wood Studios. The album was written, arranged, and produced by Agnes, who provides piano and vocals.
