Aurelio Trinidad Valle CALLA

Aurelio Trinidad Valle of the band CALLA set to launch fundraiser for art, music and charity project this week

As well as being the front man of the prolific music group, CALLA, Aurelio Trinidad Valle is an established visual artist who has been included in many New York City group shows over the years, as well as curating them. He came up with the idea of creating a self-funded label and art outlet after looking for more interesting ways to release music and artwork to the fans, outside of dealing with labels and the monotonous structures of the music industry. The purpose of this venture is to raise money for one cohesive project where Aurelio can create original, one of a kind art. Many pieces will be specifically commissioned by the donor and this will be a unique opportunity for people to purchase Aurelio's work and give to charity. In addition, getting a finished album when it is done will be an added bonus. For example, for a donation of $20, you receive high quality digital downloads of the soundtrack for Zarte Parasiten (Tender Parasites) a score to a 2010 German film by Aurelio, as well as the new album (once completed). At the other end of the scale, for a $1000 donation, the donor will receive commissioned original artwork by Aurelio, created on flat canvas, sized up to 5' x 6', a limited edition silk-screened T-shirt with an original design, your name in the liner notes of the album as well as your name mentioned in the video diary credits. Also included, a DVD of the video diary and choice of vinyl or CD version of the new album with autographed hand silk-screened sleeve, plus a high quality digital download of the score for the film Tender Parasites (Zarte Parasiten).

In addition to his art, Aurelio has been busy working on soundtracks, including, most recently, the soundtrack/score for the German film Tender Parasites, for which he received a nomination from the German Film Academy (Deutscher Filmpreis) for Best Score. You can stream a song here: http://www.zarteparasiten.de/synopsis.htm .This song was written for Nina Persson of The Cardigans and will be featured on the new album.

A Brief History:
Aurelio Trinidad Valle formed CALLA along with Wayne Magruder and Sean Donovan in 1997, adding Peter Gannon in 2003. CALLA's self-titled debut in1999 pried apart traditional song structures and reconfigured the components into subtly apocalyptic, cinematic pieces, at times evoking electronically processed Ennio Morricone soundscapes. At this time, Michael Gira signed the group to his label, Young God Records. The band's second album “SCAVENGERS” displayed a familiar atmospheric minimalist sensibility. CALLA’s third album “TELEVISE”, produced by Chris Zane (The Walkmen, Passion Pit) solidified the band’s jagged rustic indie pop sound. CALLA, with producer Chris Zane and additional mixing by Victor Van Vught (Nick Cave, PJ Harvey), recorded their fourth record, "COLLISIONS", which was released on Beggars Banquet in late 2005 to critical acclaim. Their fifth and final offering for Beggars was written and recorded in Italy, Greece and Russia with final recordings and mixes being completed in Austin, Texas and released in 2006.

Valle also scored the 2004 feature film “Egoshooter” directed by Oliver Schwabe and Christian Becker, produced by Wim Wenders and in 2005, CALLA scored the feature film “Satellite for Jeff Winner produced by Gigantic Pictures. In 2008 Valle scored the short film “Vamonos”, directed by Maurice Compte which aired on Showtime. The following year the CALLA song “Fear of Fireflies” was featured in the documentary “Fireflies” directed by Gili Meisler. That same year, Valle scored the German feature film “Zarte Parasiten” directed by Oliver Schwabe and Christian Becker. In 2011, the original score for "Zarte Parasiten" received a nomination for the German Film Academy Award (Deutscher Filmpreis).
